No, they are not saved on your hard drive unless YOU save them there. If you have a message and want to save it, click on File in the upper left corner of the screen, then click on Save As. Select the type of file you want it to be, and then remember where you put it. They are often hard to find if you let the system decide what it is and where it goes.
